Don't let the nuts make you nuts! Make a plan to vote.

UPDATE: October 26, 2026

"Voting is the most powerful non-violent tool we have in a democracy."
— John Lewis

About the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act (JLVRAA): Voting should be safe, accessible and fair for every voter. The JLVRAA fixes the gap left by the Supreme Court and addresses modern discrimination tactics. Learn More

Make a Plan to Vote

We're now days away from election day in the U.S.

If you have already voted, like Machaelle, we send you a big Thanks!

And, we ask you to forward this message to a friend who may not have voted yet.

If you have not yet voted, we're sharing some important factual resources to make this easy for you.

And we're going to keep sharing these resources weekly. Why?

Given all the money being thrown at our election, simply so a few billionaires and trillionaires can try to control the results,

Given all the attempts to throw registered voters, U.S. citizens, off the voter registration rolls,

Given all the attempts to limit how and when and where we vote, and who can vote,

Given all the lies pushed on us, intended to create confusion and fear around our elections,

Given all the lies about our elections being rigged and the lies about non-citizens voting or dead-people voting,

Given all the obstacles set up, hoping we won't want to bother,

Given the threats to send the National Guard and ICE to the polls in an attempt to scare voters away,

Given the redistricting of states in order to change election results and the evisceration of the Voting Rights Act . . .

For all these reasons and for all of the issues that matter to you, we want to make sure you have the information you need to vote and have your vote counted in our November 3 election.

1. Confirm your voter registration now. Today.

You won't be able to assume that even though you voted in the last election your name is still on the registered list. Don't assume anything.

Check your registration now.

Then, encourage your friends, family and neighbors to verify they are still registered and that they definitely plan to vote on November 3.

2. Make a plan to vote and help others do the same.

Confirm your voting location, confirm your registration, schedule the time you will vote. Take a buddy and review the plan with them now.

Find all the resources and information you'll need:

Brennan Center: How to make a plan to vote.

3. Find out ahead of time what's on your ballot.

Prevent confusion when you are in the ballot box. Some of us are voting on local and state amendments, propositions and other measures. These are notorious for containing some mighty confusing language. Be sure your YES or NO means what you think.

Find the ballot measures in your state:

Ballotpedia: What's on my ballot?

4. Vote early if you can.

Once you're done, you're done! And if there's any issue with your registration, you can clear it up before election day.

Look up information about early voting in your state:

      USA.gov Early Voting

If you have voted by mail, you can track your ballot here:

      Vote.org Ballot Tracker

5. Know who to call if you run into any issues when voting.

1-866-OUR-VOTE is a nationwide, free, hotline staffed by trained legal volunteers to help you deal with election day challenges.

Write down the number to call, put it in your wallet with your ID now.
(Or bookmark this Voting Rights Reference in your phone now.)

If you or folks you know prefer a language other than English:
      Spanish: 1-888-VE-Y-VOTA

Arabic: 1-844-YALLA-US

Asian & Pacific languages: 1-888-API-VOTE

American Sign Language video: 1-301–818-VOTE

Or you can text "OUR VOTE" to 97779.

And take ETS for Humans whenever you need it, including:
